Chapters 5 and 6
by ~NeoGaeaChapter 05: Doc Centaur
The darkness is coming. We mustn't let it into the tower or all shall be doomed once again. The light…we must find the light. But to find the light we must find the elements. The thirteen elements, only they with the power of the light can we be safe from the darkness…and hopefully chaos.
I was walking alone to the centaur village. Daemon dropped me off about a few miles away. Any closer and the humans and centaurs that lived there would freak out and he didn't need that. He asked if I wanted him to come with, but I thanked him and told him I needed alone time. He nodded and went back home to his brothers. After yesterday, I hadn't been feeling myself.
Once I was calm after killing fifteen driders, Daemon came over to me to comfort me. But I didn't want that. I wanted to burry Elijah respectively. After the burial, I apparently passed out. When I woke up I was back in my bed at Daemon's. Suko had just come in to check on me and told me I loss a lot of blood and had a nasty gash on my right breast. Unfortunately no one there knew how to tend to a human's wound properly, so Daemon offered to take me to the centaur village. We brought his clothes to change into when he polymorphed from dragon to human, because he wanted to walk with me to make sure I was safe. But I convinced him I needed to be alone so with his clothes in his right claw that still had the wound I gave him, he flew off. Eventually I should apologize for slicing his hand. Eventually. I also got to see the dark tower everyone was talking about. Daemon told me a little about it, but nothing of what Tramaiez said about what Daemon lost. Was the Empress still in the tower with her lover?
I made my way to the village and when I couldn't see a physician's sign, I stopped and asked a large centaur for directions. I must have been a sight, because people stopped and stared. I cleaned up before coming here and my outfit was washed last night. Oh well. I went into the physician's building. It wasn't huge, but from what Daemon said there was only one main physician and he was the best.
The waiting room was amazingly empty and soon out walked from another room was a centaur. His built was that of a Shire, but his coloring was golden and beautiful. He had a slight tan coloring on his skin, and long light blonde hair tied back with just a few thin stands loose. His hair matched his tail. He was clean-shaven and he had on glasses and through the glass I could see light purplish eyes. Not violet, they were too bright of a shade.
"Oh, can I help you?" He asked with a smile.
I blushed "Uh…well I have this wound on my right breast and I think it needs stitches."
"Well, right this way Miss…?"
"Joslyn."
"Joslyn," he smiled at me and I thought I about melted. "I am Windchester. Please follow me into the next room."
I followed him to a doctor's room. It looked almost just like one from my world. Except with out the electronics. I stared at it all in amazement as I sat on top of the doctor's table or bed which ever it was.
"I see you noticed this office is based off the ones from your world. I actually studied in your world for a while. I learned a bit of shape changing." Windchester said before I could ask. "If I wish I could take the form of a human, icthyocentaur and a Pterocentaur. I'm still working on a pyro version." He chuckled lightly.
I smiled. Damn he's gorgeous. I unzipped my top and he carefully removed the gauze and tape, though he was blushing all the while. That was unusual; you'd think as a physician he'd be used to that sort of thing. He got some water and cleaned the wound then examined it.
"It's not terribly deep, but you should have stitches. I can't believe you've gone this long without them." Windchester said.
"It was only yesterday that I got the wound, but I lost a lot of blood and passed out. I was attacked by driders. Long story."
"It's amazing you're still alive."
"You should see my hybrid weapon."
He went over to the counter and pulled out a needle, thread and some medication. "Should I put some anesthetics to numb it?
"Nah. This won't be as bad as getting sliced by a drider."
"You are something else. This stuff will clean the wound and keep it from getting infected. It's herbal, but not unlike your world's peroxide."
It stung, but concentrating on him helped. Especially when he started stitching. I winced a little and he smiled.
"You're a tough girl."
"Thanks. I prefer not to be the damsel."
"You'd rather be the prince?"
I laughed, "Not exactly, but I don't like being helpless. To change subject, I always wondered. How does the wife of a physician cope with her husband being ever so busy?"
Windchester chuckled lightly, "I wouldn't know. My mother seemed to do well with my father when he was alive, but I am not married."
"How does a good looking ma- centaur like you not be married? I mean just saying. You are good looking. And I've seen quite a few men and quite honestly you're the handsomest I've seen." Smooth girl. Real subtle.
Windchester laughed. "Aren't you a bit young to be flirting with me?"
"I'm twenty four."
"Oh."
"And I'm not flirting. I just asked. I've never asked a physician how his wife handles it. Or how her husband deals with it."
"I see," he smiled. I don't think he believed me much.
"Tch. Just because you're good looking doesn't mean anything if you're personality is terrible." After he finished stitching me and added a new gauze bandage, I zipped up my top.
"So what do you look for in a guy?"
"Now who's flirting?"
Windchester blushed, "Um…I better get going, I was supposed to go on lunch break, but you needed help…and…" He blushed deeper.
"Well I better head back and figure out what I'm gonna do for lunch."
Windchester looked away and blushed some more, "Well…if it's not too much trouble would you like to join me?"
"I'd like that," I smiled. We walked out of the office I was first this time. "By the way, you sure blush a lot."
Windchester blushed again and cleared his throat then locked the office door. As we walked the village we talked. This is so weird; we're just so comfortable with each other as if we've known each other. He's so handsome and so sweet and polite. We didn't talk about anything in particular. Just whatever we thought sounded interesting to the other. He told me to call him Chet since Windchester was too formal for him. That and he has been called Chet for years. He also talked about his siblings his brother Carystus and his sister Hippe. Apparently they were twins, but because Hippe was human she was at risk of being killed by her brother. His parents went to see the wise Simurgh. She told them to find a woman willing to bare the human child and who would return her back to her parents once the child was born. She gave them two of her feathers and instructed that when they found a woman that Chiron had to slide the feathers on the bellies of both women at the same time and the human child would be transferred over to the human woman which would be in her womb. They found a woman and so his sister Hippe was saved. I sat and listened on a fence that belonged to someone he knew and he stood on my right. He ate bread cheese and fruit and I ate the same except I had meat instead of cheese.
"Wow," was all I could say.
"Yeah. They lucked out. But my mother died six months later from a fever."
"Sorry to hear that."
"Thanks."
"Mind if I ask a personal question?" I asked him.
"Yes, go a head. Mind you I may not answer it."
"Fair enough. Your horse section, it looks like a Shire, but your coloring is wrong. So…what's your horse section breed?" I asked blushing.
Chet laughed to my embarrassment. "My father was a Shire-centaur. So I inherited that trait. My mother was a rare Centaurides or female centaur, her horse half was a Palomino. Very golden and I inherited that."
"A centaurides? Wow that is rare. What else did you inherit from your father?"
"His looks, and his talents in medicine and intellect," He smiled.
I smiled too. He probably got his father's charms too.
"So are you trying to find a way home?" He asked.
I thought for a while munching on a piece of meat. I swallowed and replied, "I guess not. I've been here for about five days now. Let's see, I spent one night outside, and then four days now with the boys…so yeah. Five days."
"The boys?"
"Daemon and his brothers."
"The black dragon king? Oh. I see."
"We don't have that kind of a relationship," I said my eyes closed a bit annoyed. "He knows I'm not in the least bit interested in him. If I'm gonna have a boyfriend, I demand the very best!" I said with my left fist clenched looking determined. "And I demand brownies!"
"The edible kind right? Not the fae type."
"Yeah the edible kind. My kind of guy is like a brownie: hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Someone who can make me laugh and smile. Someone I feel comfortable with. I need someone who isn't in a hurry and likes me for me faults included. And someone I can just talk to and doesn't care if what I have to say is just a bit of rambling. Someone who likes my light, but loves my dark, you know?"
"I completely understand," Chet responded. "I need someone who understands my work. I enjoy being a physician and yes sometimes it can take away a lot of my time."
"I seriously don't get people who don't understand that sort of thing. I mean you're doing really important things and helping people."
"Exactly. But whenever I tell a girl what I do, they either walk away or they tell me to quit my job. And I can't! I'm needed. I'm practically the only one and I'm considered the best. People from all around NeoGaea come to me for help. I can't let them down."
"Exactly," I replied. Chet and I looked at each other surprised. Looks like we're mutual.
"By the way can you tell me about the tower?"
He almost choked on his food, "The tower? I…well…I really don't want to talk about that."
So we changed the subject. Chet told me about how he'd also like to go into teaching like his father Chiron. Then he asked me what I was going to do since I seemed to be staying in NeoGaea.
"Well I'd like to rename this world. Seriously!" I said the latter when he laughed. "Anyways, I'm working on a catalog on the inhabitants of NeoGaea. Maybe next time I can come down here with my sketch book and do a sketch of you."
"I'd like to see you again," he said with as sweet smile, "I-I mean I'd like for you to do the sketch. Eh…I…um… I really should be getting back to my office."
"Okay. See you sometime."
"I hope so."
He smiled that beautiful smile and I'd about melted there. He walked away with me still on the fence. I had this weird feeling, but it was a good feeling. I felt sort of floaty, okay so not an actual word. But you get the gist of it. I mean that smile of his, the beautiful one; it just makes me feel like I'm about to melt. My heart beats faster when he was around and when he left he left me in this weird daze. My body felt like it was…how do I put this? I felt as though my body was wrapped in his warmth. I think I was even a little giddy. I never felt so girly, come to think of it, I never felt this way before. Daemon's sweet, but I don't get the same feeling from him. I think of him and I get this sense of mischief and hormones. Chet gives makes me feel relaxed and light and dreamy. Like I can't stop thinking about him. And well I didn't and I won't.
Chapter 06: Faerie Dragon King
I didn't realize I was gone so long that Daemon got worried about me. I was walking the village looking around and saying hello. Poor Daemon, he was so worried that he immediately hugged me. Tightly, of course. Then he scolded me like a child.
"And how, pray tell was I supposed to contact you to come and get me?" I asked him with a snarky smirk.
Daemon opened his mouth then closed it. "We should have set up a time frame or something."
"Let's walk back. I'd hate to waste this beautiful day flying and hurry back home."
"Uh…sure okay."
Daemon asked how the visit to the physician went and I told him it went fine. And I had a nice lunch with the physician, Chet. Daemon got jealous, but didn't voice it. After about four miles we rested. We lay on the soft grass, and the warm sun made us sleepy and after a while we fell asleep. This isn't the stupidest thing I've ever done or ever will, but it does rank up there. And I won't be letting Daemon live it down.
Apparently during our rest a group of pixies decided to have some fun and blew some dusk at us. Causing us to shrink, but it was worst than that for Daemon for when we woke up he was in his dragon form and screaming. It was kind of funny especially since he had cute butterfly wings. Though I had a bitch of a time trying not to laugh.
"I'm a freak'n Faerie Dragon!!! Do you know how demeaning this is?!"
"No," I started to snicker.
Daemon glared at me. "You're not helping."
"I'm sorry," I started to laugh.
"No you're not! When a woman laughs when apologizing she's not sorry."
"I know," I was laughing hard. I felt Like I was going to burst especially seeing the look oh his face, it was so comical. He also wasn't very long like in his true from. It was as if he shrank in the wash. And when I thought of that I burst out laughing even more. So much I was doubled over with my arms wrapped around my stomach as if I was trying to keep it from falling off.
"Now what's so funny?"
"You shrank in the wash!" I blurted. I continued to laugh as Daemon glared at me.
"Okay okay. You can knock it off you hyena."
"But Dae, I can't knock it off. It'll just grow back," I said laughing.
Daemon rolled his eyes. "Let me know when you're done there."
I took a deep breath and wiped away tears. "Okay I'm," I looked at Daemon and lost it all over again.
I think it was about an hour when I stopped. Mainly because I heard laughter around us. Good thing for me was my hybrid shrank as well and I had it ready. No one came out of hiding.
"Pixies. I hate pixies. They're more annoying then fairies," Daemon said bluntly.
"I'm glad Izi isn't here. She'd develop a complex."
"Sometimes I think she is a complex."
"Why'd they do this?" I asked still looking around.
"For kicks. What else? They love to play practical jokes on humans. WHY ME, I HAVE NO CLUE!?" Daemon said the last part angrily and loud, of course. I couldn't help but laugh. Daemon rolled his eyes. "Are you quite done this time?"
I took a deep breath and smiling big replied, "Yeah."
"Rrrriiiggghht," Was his reply.
"So how do we get back to normal?"
"Well normally you'd turn a jacket or a shirt inside out. But I don't think it'd work in this case. Especially for me."
"Yeah."
Daemon sighed, "We're gonna have to find a pixie or a fairy or someone who can reverse this."
"Why not make one of those pixies change us back?" I asked pointing to a few leaves where a couple of pixies were hiding and giggling.
"We could try, but pixies who do the trick don't like to undo it."
Soon we heard a sound of wings flapping we searched the area for the sounds. I turned around and came face to face with a dragon. I yelped and fell down. I sat there looking the dragon over. It was pinkish in color with light purplish gray horns, and big blue eyes. It was about a foot long with a perpetual smile and gossamer butterfly wings. It was a faerie dragon and it was extremely cute.
"I've never seen a pixie like you," she said to me.
"I'm not a pixie, I'm a human. The pixies are the ones who shrank us," I explained. "My name is Joslyn and that's Daemon over there. He's supposed to be a large black dragon."
"Ooohhhh!" She said. "I'm Bellona. Nice to meet you."
"Can you change us back to normal?" Daemon asked.
"Okay!" With a point of her little claw we were back to normal. Or so I thought.
"Great! Thanks. Come on Dae…Dae?"
"HELP!" I could barely hear his cry for help. Bellona only changed me back and she was clinging onto Dae.
"Aww! She has a crush on you," I said smiling.
"Thrills. But I don't want to be a faerie dragon forever!"
"Bellona. I need him back to normal."
"Why?" She asked.
"He's my only way home. And his younger brothers would miss him terribly. And you don't want to make anyone sad do you? Or put me in danger, right?"
"Aw. I guess not," She pouted. She then kissed Dae on the cheek and soon he was a large dragon once again.
"Girls," he glared at me.
"I didn't do anything," well, I did have a huge grin.
"Let's go home."
I climbed up to sit on the joint area of his head and neck like normal then he took flight.
"I can't wait to tell your brothers about this."
"I SWEAR I'LL EAT YOU IF YOU DO!"
Of course I told his brothers. Naturally Daemon didn't eat me, but he did chase me all around the palace in human form. It was fun. He tripped and fell flat on his face. He can be such a klutz.

I see something happening with Chet ;D
